Losing one of our wonderful Goldens is very difficult. It is not always easy to decide what to do with your pet's remains ... decisions are hard to make when your heart is broken. We at GRSF would like to make everyone aware of one option for that sad day...
Bill Jones makes beautiful urns made with special wood. Most of the woods he uses are in stock in his shop, and are in some stage of drying out. Therefore delivery is usually 10 days to two weeks . Special wood requests may take a little longer. A general rule of thumb is that an urn should be sized for the pet's weight---about 1 cubic inch per pound. For example, a 60 pound dog would require an urn about 6 inches in diameter, and 6 or 7 inches tall, not including the height of the finial on top. This size urn would be priced at about $125 for Norfolk Island Pine, and about $240 for maple burl. A very large urn (10" diameterX 10" high, less finial height), would be priced at $240 for Norfolk Island Pine, and $550 for maple burl. Picture 050176 is an example of a Norfolk Island Pine urn about 8" diameter, and 9" overall height, and sold for $200. Picture 120208 is a fancy urn made of Norfolk Island Pine, with mahogany base, cocobolo insert ring, and african blackwood finial. It is 9" diameter and 11" overall height, and priced at $250. Picture 1040250 is an example of maple burl. This urn is about 6" diameter, and 10 " overall height, and is priced at $240 Finally, one important feature of all his urns---all the lids are screw-in , threaded finials--all made of african blackwood.This ensures a good seal, and also provides a look of elegance.
